Hong Kong, China
The 16 hour flight was uneventful (other than being delayed by an hour leaving Pearson – they couldn’t find a crew to load the plane after a huge thunderstorm). I find the effect on night and day fascinating whenever I fly over the Arctic. During the flight, we went from night to day to night and then finally back to day.
I decided to take advantage of the 17 hour layover and spend a few hours in Hong Kong. It took me a while, but I finally figured out that there is a place to temporarily check baggage in Terminal 2 so that you don’t have to lug your carry-on all over the city.
I grabbed the Airport Express and made it to the city by 7 am. I wandered around for several hours – had some breakfast, waited for the stores to open, took the fairy across to Tsim Sha Tsui…..all the usual stuff. It was kind of boring being on my own but how often do you get to say, “I felt like noodles, so I popped over to Hong Kong for a little brekkie.””?
I will be boarding my 5 hour flight to Chennai in a few hours. The hotel is going to send a driver to pick me up. It will be nice to sleep in a bed for a few hours.
