La Roche-Posay, France
Today we made our way to the Loire Valley on the TGV train.
The train didn’t leave until late afternoon so we had a late breakfast at an organic bakery and leisurely meandered along the Seine. It is such a beautiful time of year to visit Paris. Today was little chilly (around 10 C) but very sunny – I didn’t need a jacket most of the day. While there are still tons of tourists here, there are not so many that you are tripping over each other. I would take today over a day in June anytime.
The trip was quick and efficient. It took 90 minutes to arrive at our destination. It was very relaxing watching the hypnotic motion of the countryside rolling by….another village,…another church…another winery…another village……..
Our ‘hotel’, the Chateau Valcreuse, is a luxurious country manner house that has been lovingly restored by its Belgian owners. Just being here makes me feel instantly relaxed.
Before freshening up for dinner, we enjoyed a glass of regional bubbly by the fireside. The evening was spent getting caught up with our hosts, Alison and Sidney and getting to know our fellow student Krasna. This week promises to be full of excitement….and butter…….
