See Ya Cusco. Or is it Cuzco? Quechua? Qusqu?

San Isidro, Peru

We had a few hours to wander around Cusco before catching our flight back to enjoy the luxuriously thick air of Lima. Even though we have been at this altitude for several days, it is still hard to do things. We had to stop and rest as we climbed the steep Cusco streets and packing felt like a high intensity workout!

The San Blas neighbourhood is beautiful. The Incan foundations mixed with Adobe and colonial houses, small streets and views of Cusco make it a ‘not to be missed’ location. The area is full of interesting shops and art galleries. If I ever make it back, I definitely want to spend more time here – I suspect that there are many treasures to be found if you have the time.

The last stop was a quick tour of the Incan Museum. It was a fun combination of kitschy displays with an amazing archeological collection outlining the region’s complex history.

We caught our flight to Lima with the feeling that we have barely scratched the surface of this remarkable area.
