Decompressing in London

London, United Kingdom

We broke up the long journey back home by arranging for a 2 day layover in London. Every time that I come here, I promise myself that I will spend more than a day or 2 but that hasn’t happened yet. For some reason, it is always a bit of a shock that London is so amazingly vibrant and energetic. The food scene is out of this world (and unfortunately, so is the shopping). I went for a walk to Drummond Street (an area with Indian shops and restaurants) and was surprised to see numerous temporary street food stalls that materialized out of nowhere in small lane ways and around parks. The variety of food available was mind blowing – Peruvian to Columbian, Thai to locavore British. Toronto city council could certainly learn a few lessons here. On Friday, Andre dropped by his company headquarters for a quick ‘meet and greet’ which was followed by a lovely lunch with a few of his former and present work colleagues. Adam, Carolyn and Barry took the train into London in order to meet up with us. It was great to sit and unwind for a few hours to enjoy the meal and pleasant conversation. He works with a great group of people. During our stay here, we scored half price (3rd row) tickets for Book of Mormon and ate at The Cinnamon Club (contemporary Indian food prepared with European flair). We are about to head home and return to the reality of normalcy. Time to start thinking about our next adventure. Anyone up for Seoul food……?
